The first tower of the Kremlin was called Tynitsky. It was built in 1485. Italian architect Anton Fryazin. Its name comes from the fact that a secret passage to the Moscow River was dug under it, which would allow residents to receive a sufficient amount of water, in the event of a long siege of the fortress. Beklemishevskaya Tower was erected two years later, its location is determined by the southeastern corner of the Kremlin. The construction did not end there, but continued at a fast pace, and so in 1491 two more towers were built — Frolovskaya and Nikolskaya. They also had a traveling gate, and was born thanks to another Italian — Pietro Antonio Solari. A total of 20 towers were built.
